Upgradeitis

I have a CD192 into an A80 driving monitor audio silver s6's. I have very long (7m+) cable runs to the speakers due to room set up. I have upgradeitis, but bi-wiring/biamping is out due to room design and an anti-cable co-habitee. Ordinarily, i would think of an A80/p80 but as that is not an option, i am thinking about using the A80 as a pre-amp and then looking at an FMJ P35 power amp which would give me a bit more grunt and also leave the way open to adding the matching FMJ integrated to bi-amp when further funds/room set up/divorce allows.

Anyone have any thoughts on using my A80 as a pre-amp for the FMJ power amp?

Re: Upgradeitis

Firstly welcome
If I were you I would stick an anti-cable co-habitee inthe classifieds and use the proceeds on a new pre /power
Hopefully those that know far more than me will come along and give you some proper advice.

Re: Upgradeitis

Nice one!

Only problem would be that if she goes in the classifieds, I don't think I'd get enough to cover a new set of banana plugs.

Re: Upgradeitis

Cables and power amps can be hidden. Requires some work, but the result can be really good. I spent a whole day hiding coaxes and speaker cables in the living room, painting the channel the same colour as the walls etc..

On the back ot the equipment rack, I have collected cables using IKEA:s cable collectors. Not only does it look better, it also allows me to keep speaker cables, power cables and signal cables separated.

Btw, I'm super happy with my DV137/AVP700/P1000 trio which now is up and running. It is just that.... I found an AV8/P7 duo for sale at ex-demo price. Upgradeitis?!
