Sagem HD50 G4T - SD DVD progressive scan, how does TV handle it?

Trying to understand how the Sagem handles progressive scan on a standard definition dvd. Will it convert that to 720p or 1080i?

If the Sagem is upscaling is it worth setting dvd to progressive scan? Trying to work out best option from RGB scart, component (progressive), component (non progressive).

cheers

Alan

Hi,

Regardless of what you feed the Sagem the end result will always be 720P. The differences lie with which devices you allow to do which conversions i.e. upscaling DVD player rather than letting the screen do the upscaling.

For 'most' good DVD players the component progessive output should be the preferred option. At the end of the day try 'em all and choose which you prefer

Mine all looked like pooh.
I use a PC now at 1280 x 720 over DVI into my Sagem 56", the PQ beats the pants off standalone players, and I can run my PAL Dvds at the right speed.
