Just picked up a Turion 64 laptop and loaded Vista. Performance as a wireless linked web browser and occasional media machine is not bad but I would like to make use of the speed boost functionality. However my 3 1 gig memory sticks fail the performance test. What sticks are you using succesfully out there?:)

Did you (or anyone else) manage to get the USB stick and vista speed boost thing working ?
I have just got the latest Vista build and fancy trying it

Just for information I found the following:
The Lexar Jump Drive Lightning has been found to work by another forum member. Metal bodied, appear very well made. These are presently sold by Amazon.
I am successfully using a Crucial Gizmo Overdrive, plastic body but doesn't obstruct adjacent USB ports and works well. Available from the Crucial UK website.
I am using a Turion chipped laptop and with 2 gig of ram (128 meg shared) I get much reduced lag when launching applications and reduced HDD activity (replaced with some memory stick activity). The overall effect is to improve the user experience IMO.

This looks good but not sure if USB2 is going to be quick enough....
Wonder if somthing like this would work with that Vista speed thing:
http://www.theregister.co.uk/2005/10/03/gigabyte_i-ram_ramdisk/
The storage connects to the host system via its own SATA cable - the PCI bus is used for power. The board contains a Xilinx Spartan Field-Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) chip that converts Serial ATA instructions into memory read and write requests, and vice versa.
Shame I dont have a spare PCI slot - Wonder when they'll be bringing out a pure SATA device like the above.

Just found this also :

Dont think they are released yet but I would imagine that Vista would be the OS that'll be making best use of it.
Still seems to be a 4Gbyte limit on it though.

Is that a 4gb limit in total? Or a expandable limit? Is the existing ram taken into the equation for this limit?

speed boost is recommended upto 3 times the installed ram.
I have a 1gb sd card in my laptop running 2gb ddr2.
2gb usb stick running on my htpc with 1gb ddr
My thought is more to save disk thrashing with caching on the sd/usb drive.

There are a few sticks out there now sold with Readyboost support. I am using Kingstaon Data Traveller enhanced for Readyboost, cost about £17 for a 2gig stick. Just search for Readyboost on Amazon.

I am using a Buffalo flash usb 2 512mb stick. It works without any problems, but i am going to buy a 1g stick. Have now bought a Buffalo 2 g stick and works brilliantly.

apacer 4gb and san cruzer 1gb sticks here....
The apacer is noticeably better, it also has a drive activity light on it which is useful to see when its being used.
Even while playing games, its being accessed almost constantly, even with 4GB of main system RAM.

Have just taken delivery of the Corsair 1GB Turbo Flash stick from directusbstore.co.uk.Specificaly designed for Vista and optimized for systems with 512MB or IGB OF main memory.First impressions are very favourable and service from above excellent.I have 1GB of memory and following short usage have noticed a significant difference.I would therefore like to thank the Guys/gals on this Forum for the infomation which enabled me to obtain this product.CHEERS.
