Denon 2910 will not handshake with my amp

Hi Guys

My Denon 2910 has been connected with HDMi to my plasma direct for some 6months now with no probs.

Just bought a new pioneer switching amp which will not handshake with the Denon ? the dvd player just locks out, displaying "loading". I have ruled out any lead problems, checked both HDMI inputs, checked input settings (all ok)

Any ideas ? Is this firmware ? I would like to think I am doing something wrong but I don't know what .

Thanks

I've heard, but I'm not entirely sure, that this could be related to the firmware. Something to do with the Amp only accepting HDMI 1.1 signals and the 2910 only sending HDMI 1.0 signals. Your best bet would be to get the new firmware which upgrades the HDMI to 1.1 (somewhere there'll be a link on these forums) and see if that solves the problem.

Many thanks for your reply.

It sounds like I may not be alone then in experiencing this issue. I will talk to my retailer about a firmware upgrade.

Maybe one day I will buy something that really will work "out of the box"

Something to do with the Amp only accepting HDMI 1.1 signals and the 2910 only sending HDMI 1.0 signals.

Does anyone know about the HDMI 1.0 and 1.1 signal ? Presumably HDMI 1.1 is a newer standard. Does all new kit now output/receive this ?

My 2910 has been on the market for a couple of years so guess that maybe this is my problem and that i need a firmware update.

I would suggest a firmware update regardless. Firmware did affect HDMI/DVI in early versions but later firmware also bought picture and menu speed enhancements. Ask your dealer to get on to Denon about supplying the latest firmware but be prepared to wait a few weeks if they don't have the disks on the premises. There are links to downloadable versions on this forum also if you want a crack at it yourself.

I doubt it has anything to do with 1.0 and 1.1 but a firmware update looks to be the best way forward here.
