Hy

I was looking for some help as the weirdest thing is happening to my broadband

We just got Sky installed yesterday and for some reason whenever the TV is switched on Broadband goes down....

and it cant be the Sky box as thats on 24/7. The Broadband only disconnects when the TV itslef is turned on and as soon as its switched off the internet is fine.

bearing in mind i have ADSL (think thats what its called) the ISP is PlusNET (tho itll be Sky soon depending on its reviews) and like i said before the box itself hasnt been switched on or off since being installed yesteray.....

any help is of course appreciated

Have you got all the filters plugged in all the phone lines?

The Sky box also needs a filter

we have a filter in the phone socket (we only have one phone socket in the whole house which can be annoying) and i also have a filter between my router and the main phone socket and that filter has the internet wire going to the router and one of the wires going to or from (or both) Sky (cant remeber exactly as im at work)

Try this. Unplug the Sky box from the mains. Now switch on your TV. Does the Broadband die? If not it's your Sky Box or its wiring. If it does, you've got me puzzled.

Well I already know itll be fine as weve had no problems until yesterday when the new box was installed.....

Try it anyway. And make sure that every piece of phone equipment (and Digibox) is plugged into its own individual filter. Do not "tee" two items into one filter.

I suspect it's an earthing problem, by the way. Try earthing the "F" connector.

OK let's try to understand this.

It sounds like when you switch the TV on it is triggering the Sky box to try to dial out. The modem in the Sky box is bringing dow your ADSL service.

You have a filter IN your one and only phone socket? That is to say the wall plate has an RJ11 socket for ADSL and a BT style socket for the phone? If this is not correct please repost with a description of what you do have as I can't work it out from the list above.

Hey guys thx for the help.....

Its fixed I simply removed the filter on the main phone socket (which i thought you 'MUST' keep in) but now its out both internet and Sky are flawless

i think the TV like shorted it out because both the Broadband and Sky connections were going through 2 filters and its almost like the 2nd filter bloked one of the connections (broadband in this case) and now theres only one filter its fine....

thx anywho guys
