Done To Death: What you listening to?

Often done to death I know, but what the hell - what albums are you most listening to recently? I seem to have turned back the clock some:

Tool - Lateralus
Pantera - Cowboys From Hell
Monster Magnet - Powertrip
Slayer - Seasons In The Abyss :devil: :devil: :devil:
Metallica - Master Of Puppets
White Zombie - Astro Creep: 2000

All older/oldish stuff; seems I'm turning into the bearded 50 year old biker who sits in the corner of my local.

Music - well, the heavy metal scene anyway - is a bit boring for me at the moment. :( I'm sick of all this nu-metal pants, :mad: and I'm getting a bit starved for new bands... but at least this has given me the chance to recollect my older stuff, which got nicked over a year ago. :mad:

Anyone else having this problem?

BTW any suggestions for bands - no nu-metal or dad-rock :p - gratefully accepted...

Well i have no amp at the mo. But i like the sound of a 'hundred reasons' 'idle wild', and haven. good bands making real music. I also like the doves. I know you like your metal, my mate just wont entertain anything else. But try and lend or listen to some of the above bands tracks, and see what you think.

Hundred Reasons I like well enough. Met them when they stayed at a mate's house once about a month before they hit big time, although I still say they sound a lot like a poor man's At The Drive-in. Idlewild I do like a lot. Haven I saw live a while ago and really couldn't say I like them all that much.

Pointon..I've just this minute got back from Hundred Reasons new Album signing in Camberley at Rock Box. Great atmosphere and the album is excellent and I also get a mention in the "thanks to" in the inlay..;)
I'm not biased but Colin Doran (lead singer) did spend all afternoon playing games on my Xbox, we then watched the Special Ed Tron and had a nice Sunday roast..:)
Had to get that in..just nice to see someone else who knows the guys..
Albums out today (Monday) "Ideas above our Station"..:)

Well for me there's only one band worth listening to at the mo and that's,

If you're sick of nu-metal bands check them out, they're a breath of fresh air...

Sparta: Nope. Don't really like At The Drive-in that much, or any of this post-hardcore cobblers since locallers Spy Versus Spy went to the dogs. Not unless you count The Dillinger Escape Plan as post-hardcore, which I suppose you could.

Moody Blues: My mum has one or two CD's.

Anyone: Got their album in December, listened the pants off it. Bloody genius. Might have to slap it on again...

Prong 'Cleansing'... that album is so well produced, sounds awesome though a good system. Tommy Victor is one underrated songwriter, they make nu-metal bands sound like N*Sync.

Ever heard 'Beg To Differ'? Ted Parson's drum sound on that is so huge I actually laugh every time I hear it.

I got the 'Anyone' album sent to me, it's pretty good but I'll stick with Jane's Addiction I think :)

Check out the AFI album 'The Art of Drowning' you might like that if you're into a Jane's Addiction but harder sound, kind of like The Misfits meets Jane's meets Agnostic Front.

Other than that, currently listening to 'Frantic: The Future Sound of Hard Dance' and Agnelli & Nelson's 'Hudson Street'.

Oh, and, of course, S Club Juniors... who DOESN'T love those guys?

Unfortunately I just realised that's getting on for 10 years ago... jeez.

If you can possibly get hold of Prong's 'Cleansing', I would definitely recommend it. The worst that could happen is you'd like it a lot. More likely is that you'll end up buying all their other stuff!

Cleansing is superb. When I was at Uni there were all the nu metal lot who were oblivious and would put Kobain on the bar juke box to be hip with the nastie - yeah, sweetie, take a pill. A big far coughing pill!! Even had arguments that Metallica's Black album wasn't from this new band! I HATED students.
Prong had some techno reworking of their singles also. I was well peeved when they split.
I use to listen to Accept a lot I recall. German metal'ers. Great times, reminds me of Knebworth...

Phil Anselmo's new project (a fully fledged super group), Superjoint Ritual's album is out, 'Use Once & Destroy'. From what I've heard it's heavier than a heavy thing. Nice. Killswitch Engage sound like they're worth checking out too. :devil:

Sadly, a new Korn album has made an appearance. This means a much larger presence of nu-metal sheep will be around. :(

I have to grapple with my lady for control of the CD player - she's a bit of a nu-metal/rap fiend, while I prefer my tunes to have more of an electronic leaning. Recently though I've turned back the clocks by listening to some old stuff I liked when I was younger...

I heard that new Korn album the other day and I couldn't help thinking it was terrible. They seem to have started taking themselves all seriously, like Metallica circa The Black Album.
