Hi There,
I have made up all my main speaker cable from Cat 5E cable, using the twisted twin method, these are 8m runs, there is only one problem to this method is that it does take about 3 hours work per cable, including plaiting the cables, shrink rapping the ends, and silver soldering the ends. I have not had the chance yet to hear the results, as I am still converting my loft to a Home cinema.

Hi There,
I used the same cat5e cable from screwfix, and I have used Vann damme banana plugs from vdctrading.com, and they are perfect.

The Cat5e is £17.50 for 100m from http://www.screwfix.com/

I searched "Cat5e" in above link. Some results appeared include below:

PRODUCT INFORMATION: Cat5e 4pr Utp Cable 100m

Cat 5E unshielded 4 pair twisted cable 24AWG non plenum horizontal (solid conductor) 100m shrink wrapped. Outer sheath metre marked with rip cord (305m version only) ANSI/EIA/TIA - 568-A-5, ISO/IEC - 11801/BS EN 50173, UL444, UL1581, UL1666 Approved.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION UNIT PACKS ORDER QUANTITY
- 0467 CAT5E 4PR UTP CABLE 100M EACH 1
£17.50

Correct me if i am wrong. Can i use this (CHEAPER here £17.50) instead of getting one from Maplin (£30)?

Also, question on connection to the tweeter from http://www.tnt-audio.com/clinica/ffrc_e.html

"The remaining cable in our assembly is used for the tweeter connection.
All white plus coloured ring wires are connected together for the (+) connection to the tweeter and all coloured wires as (-) connection."

Where are the <<coloured ring wires>> as stated?
I have seen pic of the cable. I can see the four pairs of conductors. Each white wire is paired with coloured. However I couldn't work out where coloured ring wires are.

Thanks in advance.
