There is also a £50 installation charge according to the register.

£90 upfront is not really free to me. Much better alternatives out there

You are joking, aren't you ? The installation is optional and includes a free Netgear router. You can have the router mailed to you if you don't require installation.

I pay Pipex about £24 a month for 2M. I know you can do better than that, but £10 a month for 16M is a bargain, and 2M for FREE is even better !

All i can see is a £40 install fee so where are you getting £90 from and at 2mbit for FREE show me a better deal, or for that matter 16mbit for a tenner.

Ah got it but you can install it yourself.

It's an ipstream service, so the upload speeds will be between 448kbps and 768kbps, depending on what level of service you opt for.

Looks like a fantastic deal.

I'm currently with Tiscali paying £13 a month for 1MB unlimited usage £2 discounted of the normal price as I’ve been with them over a year and had mentioned to them that I was thinking about leaving a few months ago. So I can leave giving them 30 days notice at anytime.

With Sky I can pay £10 and get up to 16MB with unlimited usage, a free Netgear router and McAfee security suite. I already have a Netgear router so I could sell mine and use the Sky one saving even more money if it is as good as the model I currently have. It does look the same from the picture.

I did plan to join TalkTalk broadband but the wait for activation was too long. Hopefully Sky will be quicker and I’m very tempted to get my name down this afternnon once the website is active. Although I then risk the possibility of the service being poor and having problems as early adopters of TalkTalk broadband found……

The only snag is that it uses LLU, and not all exchanges are enabled (yet), but BT are enabling 30 new ones every week, so you won't have long to wait if you don't already have it.

So is it worth me changing from £25pm for 4MB with Telewest, to Sky for £10pm at 16MB unlimited usage, and free installion? I certainly think so.

Sounds too good to be true. Is there anything I should be made aware of?

Other than being an early adopter guinea pig for them and possible teething problems. But I'm willing to take that chance for once.

I'm registered (well I guess I am - filled the form in twice and got dumped back to the registration screen each time...)

Anyway - now to get out of this dumb talktalk contract (now a month overdue and seemingly going nowhere...)
