Soundbridge / Squeezebox / ?

Mornin'

..have been using my Xbox360 to stream iTunes stuff into my living room for a while now, but it's a bit of a pain so I'm after something that does the job specifically.

I've read about the Soundbridge and Squeezebox and they both seem like great bits of kit, leaning slightly towards the Soundbridge on looks at the moment.

Are there other options I'm missing? And does anyone know where I can get either one cheapest?

Thanks!
Adam

I have reviews of all of the options here:
www.audiofi.co.uk/reviews

Also do a search on here, this has been asked a few times before.

As for the cheapest, the Squeezebox is sometimes on www.todayonly.co.uk

The Roku Soundbridge is now also sold by Evesham, so might be worth checking there too

Your best bet is just to browse the official reseller websites (there aren't many)

http://www.slimdevices.com/au_resellers.html#uk

If you need any help once you have bought one, just let me know

Will do .. appreciated!

1 quick one, did I read that it can also be used as a wireless bridge? Would be handy to use it to make my 360 wireless....

Cheers,
Adam

That's even better .. so by buying the squeezbox I've 'saved' myself the £60 for a wireless 360 adapter, I can also sell the iPod nano that I'm currently using hooked up to the stereo ... I'll justify this purchase in no time

Cheers,
Adam

1 last question, promise.

Which of the Roku/Squeezebox has the better display? I'll be controlling it from a sofa some 8ft away - needs to be large and clear although my eyesight is good.

Cheers,
Adam

Hi Adam,

I have got a SqueezeBox 2 and a SqueezeBox 3, the display is really good on both of them, and it lets you change the size of the text. You will have no problems seeing the large size from that distance.

I am unable to compare it with the Roku since I have not used one. I have heard that the display on the Roku can fail, hence why I went for the SqueezeBox.

The SqueezeBox is a fantastic product and you will be happy.

In order to use the wireless bridge you will need to use a crossover cable.

Once you are all set up, check out LASTfm and create yourself a profile. There is a plugin for the Slimserver too. http://www.last.fm

Some places to buy from:

And here is a review:

Cheers,

John.

Thanks everyone, now the proud owner of a Squeezebox 3. I've only had 30 or so mins to play with it but I'm very impressed, it does exactly what I wanted!

... Pandora.com is great too!

Cheers,
Adam

I'd be interested to know what you think of it once you get a chance to play with it for a while
