Unhappy Can Not Play Any Dvd-r In Toshiba Hd-xa1

I Have Elmo In Grounchland Region 2 Dvd Which My 2 Year Old Daughter Loves Very Much, And Can't Get Enough Of.

I Recently Purchased A Toshiba Hd Xa1 To Be Imported To The Uk.
My Daughter Is Very Upset As Elmo Will Not Work On New Dvd Player As Only Region 1.

I Have Tried To Make A Backup On A Dvd-r For My Little Girl To Watch, But Error Can Not Play Disc Comes Up.

Does Anyone Know What Media Works With This Player.

Can Anyone Help Me.

The US XA1 does not support PAL. Did you convert the recorded version to NTSC ? This may be the issue rather than the media type.

I converted from pal to ntsc.
the dvd-r plays fine on pc and multiregion dvd player, but not on HD XA1.

Says error, on front of player and on screen says, can not play this disc.

I have succesfully downloaded a region 1 dvd image and burned this to DVD-RW using Nero express.
Forgive my ignorance but I have not seen a piece of sofware that will take a PAL disc, break the encryption, convert it from 576i@50 Hz to 480i@60Hz and then write this as a disc presumably with a region code of 0 or 1. What did you use?

I have to say I did a lot of research before buying my Toshiba A1 and was fully aware that it would not play PAL discs but I have to ask who would assume that a US player, bought from the US would play UK DVD's?

The cheapest solution to your problem is to go tp Tesco/Asda etc and buy a region 2 player to supplement your hd-dvd player or just buy a region 1 copy of "Adventures of Elmo in Grouchland" which currently costs $9.95 +$6 postage from amazon.com. Both solutions will cost less than £20 and spare you a lot of effort.

I can confirm than Verbatim DVD+R single and dual layer both work fine here on my D1. I don't have any -R to try, sorry.
