Arcam Alpha 8SE + Squeezebox

I have an Arcam Alpha 8SE CD Player - the laser has failed but it would cost about £200 to fix!!!

Does anyone know if it is possible to modify the Arcam so that I can make use of just the DAC section, with say the digital out on my Squeezebox?
