Is this possible?

Hello all,
I have been looking at the new Marantz WEAVE system as a quick, easy and no mess multiroom system. I am pretty sure I could connect some kind of music server to the WEAVE amp \ receiver BUT.... How do I control the server? Ideally I would like a wireless remote controller, just like the Sonos one, on which I could browse for tracks etc.

Amazingly no such music server seems to exist! Just a box which you pop your CD's into, they get converted into MP3 (or whatever), then you can control whats played via a wireless controller, surely something like this must exist...it cant be that hard?

I am not keen on Sonos as :-

a) the music is streamed over wireless and I am not convinced it will be 100% reliable (too many wireless devices and networks in my street).

b) from what I understand (or have I got it wrong?) you have to set up a home network, which I have no interest in doing, call me paranoid but I see them as too much of a security risk.

Can I get this set up the way I want or is it just impossible at the moment? Cheers for any help or advice etc,

Paul.

A Nevo with a PC would work fine with the Marantz. The nevo is a wireless touchscreen remote that shows track /titles/ artist etc, on it's screen and lets you browse and play tracks stored on a PC. The tracks are played either through a PC or any Upnp music player (e.g. Roku). In your case a PC connected to one of the Marantz's main unit inputs, would be controlled via the Nevo.

Sono's doesnt have to work over wireless, it can opperate just as easily over standard CAT5e cable.

Also, I think you will find that the manufacturers of these wireless systems actually use WiFi as their way of talking and sharing files.
