DVI-I splitter

Can anyone advise if such a cable outlined below is available?

I require only video sent to my TV as I have an amp taking care of the sound.

My Philips Plasma only has a DVI-I connection.

I need to be able to send analogue from my Xbox360 via a VGA to DVI-I adaptor to the TV as well as digital from my Telewest TV Drive box.

I have tried various cables and switchboxes, none of which seem to work.

i have since worked out that if I get a cable with the following:

Input 1 - DVI-I
Input 2 - DVI-I

Output DVI-I

This should take care of all issues.

Does a fully DVI-I splitter exist as I cannot find one.

Wow, that is expensive. I have investigated further and think that some sort of DVI-I spliiter would be perfect. No switchbox or anything, just a simple 2 in, 1 out DVI-I splitter that can carry analogue and digital signals.

Does this exist or are there places that exist that would make such a thing?

Hello Steve

DVI-I and DVI splitters do exist - you need to specify if you require HDCP compliance or not; if one of your sources is HDMI or DVI with HDCP you need it and they don't tend to come in as cheap as DVI splitters aimed at the IT market.

See http://www.gefen.com/kvm/product.jsp?prod_id=3942 or http://www.gefen.com/kvm/product.jsp?prod_id=1205

Mind you your not going to like those prces either

What budget had you in mind?

Joe

Hi, thnx for the reply. You seem to be pointing me in the direction of devices with 2 outputs. I require a device with 2 inputs and 2 outputs. Or am I reading it wrong.

I need to be able to connect an Xbox360 and a Telewest TV drive box to some sort of switchable device that will then connect to my DVI input of my TV.

I do require a device that can output analogue as the Xbox360 only transmits that.

I thought the cable splitter that had 2 inputs and one output was a simple solution and therefore available but I can't find one.

Hello SGM

I was reading your headline 'splitter' - what your asking for is a 2x1 DVI-I 'Switcher'.

The Lindy CPU Smart switch DVI (part no. 32343) may do what you require - I've never used one; see http://www.lindy.com/uk/productfolde...2343/index.php

Its 189.00 inc 4 x DVI cables.

Joe.

Ah, my mistake

That looks more like it but would it be HDCP enabled (if that is the right terminology)

Now I know the correct term i.e. switcher then maybe I will be able to find something a little less costly as I only need 2 ports and no keyboard mouse sockets.

Thank you for your time on this.
