Exclamation PC-2-TV via DVI-D cable - no signal at all

Hi
I connected my desctop PC to Hitachi 7200 recently. The problem is that I do not get any picture or signal on TV at all.
My pc connected to a monitir via D-Sub and video card has also DVI-I connection, so I connected PC (DVI-I output) to DVI-D input of TV (RGB1).
However I do not get any picture on TV, but all settings on PC shows that the second monitor is turned on.
Videocard is Asus v8420 (GeForce Ti 4200 chip), with D-Sub/DVI-I/S-video outputs.
Cable I used is Dual link DVI-D cable,

and here is how caple plug looks

So my connection looks like:
DVI-I(PC) via DVI-D/DVI-D cable to DVI-D (TV)

Here are my Video card connections

So, what could be wrong with it - video card output, cable or TV input?
As I understand DVI-I output can send both analog and digital signal, so if I use DVI-D cable it should send digital signal via cable to TV or not?

please help cos I made a hole in a wall for this cable and now it looks like all for nothing

I suspect that your DVI output fro mthe PC is only sending out the analogue DVI-A signal. As the Hitachi is DVI-D only it can't find anything.

Year, probably this is the reason but manual for video card says that DVI-I output send both digital and analog signals.
PC determines Hitachi Digital monitor - this means there is some connection between PC and TV but no picture

Welcome to the unpredictable world of DVI connections.

I have experienced exactly the same problem as you connecting my HTPC to a Pioneer MXE1.

I started by using a 2m Belkin Dual-Link cable which I had lying around and there were no problems at all. Nice crystal clear picture.

Unfortunately a change in setup meant that I had to switch from this cable to a 8m+ one and bought an expensive 9m Bettercables Dual-link version. I connected this up and......nothing. As you say, the monitor is detected by the video driver on the HTPC but no picture is produced. I tried a number of video cards without success and initially suspected a faulty cable but when I tested it on a friends DVD player (with DVI output) the results were perfect.

There are issues with sending DVI signals over long (>5m) distances so I decided to try another long cable. I bought a relatively cheap (Ł29) 10m DVI cable from ebay which appeared to be almost identical to the Bettercables one costing three times as much. Plugged it in expecting another blank screen and........pow! Perfect picture with no sparklies at all!

My conclusion is that some cables, no matter what the quality require more "ooomph" (technical term) from the source than others. The Bettercables cable is undoubtably high quality and perfect for the right kit but I found it unsuitable for HTPC setups. I've had nothing but happiness with the longer, cheaper cable.

As I say, length of cable was also an issue for me but before you ditch the HTPC, try and source an alternative cable. I suspect there is absolutely no issue with your DVI output.
