First off, I've been hearing about the firmware updates, have to admit I have had no problems with my HD XA1 which is around 2 months old. So is the update anygood, sure it takes a bit of time to load up when starting from 'off', but is there anything else?

Also, my connection to the internet is wireless, and the router is in another room. I've ried plugging a wireless adapter in the front USB, but nothing seems to happen. Has anyone had success with this, or do I need to run a lead through the house to do updates....?

... which goes back to my first question is it worth it, as the saying goes, "If it not broke....etc"

I took my router from upstairs and just plugged my router into the phone socket behind the tv,then to the XA-1,
Set DHCP-ON
DNS-ON
then clicked update.

I had to do mine as i've not been able to watch a film without HDMI ERRORS.I was pooing myself as the 1st 10 mins seem to take for ever.
I know nothing about computers but this is very simple.
Still takes 30 sec to load disk but i've watched 2 films back to back without any problems at all.Now im made up with the new firmware 1.4.

If you have no problems why bother?Just wait until a disk is available if your worried.I needed to do this or was going tom sell my XA-1 as it worked with everything but my sagem.:(

Theres a thread here about it
