looking for a plug and play mp3 player with integrated usb connection?

Hey,

as the title suggests, i'm looking for a mp3 playing flash drive gadget with ideally at least 1gb of storage.

however to confuse matters i really want one with a male usb connecter built in to the unit, meaning i can plug the unit straight into a computer without having to use a usb cable. sony make a 1gb walkman, the nw e005, but being a sony item i am pretty certain it would not meet my other requirement which is plug and play. i would like to be able to plug it into any computer and transfer files straight away without the need for software.

i'm sure such a unit must exist, but have so far been unable to track one down, if anyone could give me some advice i would be eternally grateful.

cheers,
tim

Go to Curry's and take a look at the Creative 1gb player they have for £45, it runs off 1 AAA battery rather than recharging, but iirc it has a connector built in.

I bet you're going to ask for one with a rechargeable battery though, aren't you

hello,

thanks for the reply..

..i didn't think about the creative players.. i've had a little MuVo player before and it was very good, although that one connected via a cable. reading the website seems to suggest no cable needed tho, although i'd still want to check one out in a shop to be sure. It seems as though 1gb is the biggest capacity they do in this 'no-cable-required' model?

as for it not having a rechargable battery i must admit that if possible i'd prefer one with its own battery, but if nothing turns up then i'd be quite tempted by this one.

The newer Creative players of the same size DO need a cable, but this definitely doesn't (see the Creative link I posted). I'm quite tempted to get this little beastie for when I'm on the beach... so if you get it, review it for me

i assumed as samsung players came with samsung software that'd be the only way to connect them but the website website says they can be used as a removable storage device and thats good enough for me, so thats what i think i'll go for.

the creative player does look nice and as i've said my old muvo was great, but the fact that i can get a 2gb version and that it'll recharge via USB means the samsung one does everything i could hope for.

i can let you know how good it is when i get hold of one.

cheers guys for your help.

Hi Rocco,
I bought the samsung 2gb from amazon last week for £69.99 and it is an excellent bit of kit. No need to install the bundled software just drag and drop. My fiancee has the sony 1gb bean and the samsung is better in every way especially build quality.
Highly recommend this little stunner!!

yeah, got the samsung the other day, am very impressed with it.

it's neat and tidy, easy to use, turns up loud enough and the blue leds on the end makes it a great mini glowstick.

yep, recommend it.
