Bob - see if you can find a Philips DTR-430. It has S-video on one of its scart sockets, so you'll need a scart-to-s-video lead an'all.

Firts things S-Video is a video signal stadard, second scart is a cable design capable of carrying mutliple signals (Composite/S-video stereo sound data etc etc etc)

So do you want a dedicated S-video socket? (why?)

OR an S-video signal?(Why? perfectly possible with scart if its been implemented inside the box)

if you look closer loads do i think all PVR variants offer S-video out either via scart or mini DIN.
add the netgem I player to the list and there is a cheapie Sagem you can get for £30

No not at all a scart socket with s-video output is fine ,i didn't realize there would be such a big choice.

On the subject of signal vs. cable standards. Devices equiped with SCARTs normally have RGB and composite on at least one of the SCARTs. Some devices can supply S-Video as well but to drive it you lose RGB on that socket.

So we are back to the question why? RGB will normally give a beter picture and so the only reason that i can see for using S-Video is that the receiving device can't accept RGB but can accept S-Video.

I can't see why anyone would want to know "why", all i wanted to know was if any of the freeview boxes could give a s-video output.
To put your mind at rest the input device which is connected to my amp as a number of devices connected via s-video and is switched by the amp and yes it can't accept RGB only s-video ,composite and component.

My Humax PVR (8000T) has Scart socket, you can select RGB or S-Video. The output on both is brilliant!!! I use the S-Vid as my RGB is taken up by the DVD player.

I wanted to know why you wanted to use S-Video in order to help you fix your problem. I'll know better next time.
