Thanks: Gave 42, Got 103
Arrived -Samsung Z5A

Ding dong..........dont you just love it

"Got a parcel for you" I love those words

"Infact, I have two parcels"

First one is a pair of Future Sonics EM3 in ear monitors.....and you cant help but think £60 for those, but you just know they are purpose designed to do the job. Away in their little pouch for now.

Then the next parcel contains the player in its natty little box, cable, earbuds, CD and various bits of literature. I rip it open and hold in my hand a gleaming, shiny, black and chrome Z5A. It really is nice, never mind the iPod extremists complaining over it's side screws and lack of a scroll wheel, this thing feels really nice and has that slightly weighty feel that reeks of quality. My wife picks it up and says "ooo thats sexy, looks luvly in black, really cute"

Connect up to PC, by the proprietory cable and within a few seconds its ready and connected (despite the fact that I am still running a USB 1.0 port and should get round to fitting a USB 2.0 card at some time). Up comes WM10and its ready to sync up although I dont have anything ready to download.

3 hrs later the battery indicator gives out a green signal and we are good to go. Pop it off the cable, earbuds in and switch on, firstly I find it easy to scroll through the menus, but I have pretty dainty digits, but can I hell activate the menus no matter how many light touches of the control I try. Frustrated, I push a bit harder and .....oh, its a proper tactile push/click........its all dead easy and totally intuitive and thats from an MP3 novice. I find one of the ready installed tunes and click play, whoa, pretty good and thats with the standard earbuds. Its still not hifi, but for tunes on the move and drum practise its fine, with plenty of volume and a nice open mid range and a easy going bass sound, very nice indeed. The volume is adjustable by a seperate, dedicated up/down control on the side, easy peasy and the controls are all locked out by a solid feeling slider on the top. This is more like a nice piece of well engineered jewelry, a nice watch/pen/ciggy lighter. Very classy.

I will post something about downloading and the EM3s a bit later on, but for now I am a happy bunny.
