Thumbs down Ebuyer Completely Unreliable

Ebuyer have invoiced me for £610 pounds for a 32" Hyundai Imagequest LCD TV in the disguise of a cheap 17" monitor!! I ordered the Hyundai Imagequest A321 from Ebuyer. EBuyer posted over 44 good reviews and so i thought it would be a good enough service. Then I went on to these forums to the thread about EBUYER and A321 problems and so many people complained about Ebuyers service but stlil i gave them the benefit of the doubt as the price was so good. I ordered the A321 on the 16th with the normal service. About 4 or 5 hours ago it was still on the ebuyer online system as "picking" from the warehouse. I phoned up, was told by the customer services there were delays and that it would be delivered at least tomorrow probably so I went out for a few hours.

My mother who has alzheimers was being cared for by my aunt and when I was out the delivery came and my aunt not knowing anything about it just signed for it. When I came home she said there was a package for me and I went into my room looking for this big box with my shiny new Hyundai 32" HD LCD TV when infact I am the owner of a 17" Suyama TFT LCD monitor ??!!! I am absolutely raging and Im ready for all out war with these people as I have read one bad report I can remember about their attitude, over and above the many about their poor quality of service! I can not afford to lose that cash on this. This has set internet buying with my family and friends back years now!

Please people post about your experiences with Ebuyer here.

I have to admit that a couple of years ago I did have a problem with them when buying a Panasonic projector. Initial purchase and delivery went ok but the first one they sent a had a dead pixel near the middle of the screen. This was where there problems began. The first one came with a spare bulb though (mistake, but a good result!)

The replacement arrived, also with a spare bulb (another result), and worked ok, but came with a US mains leads. Everything else was fine but the lead. Ordinarily, I wouldn't have bothered, but as I wanted to to ceiling mount the projector, any suitable UK leads I had were too short, and it appeared that the longest I could buy was 2 metres.

So, this one had to go back. So far this had taken a few weeeks to arrange, so eventually I wrote to the MD and pointed out the legalities of selling US spec'd, non CE compliant equipment, and would they come and get it, with a replacement, or should I get trading standards to pick it up and safely dispose of it. This resulted in a letter of apology, a credit of around 400 quid and quick turnaround on the replacement (yes, another spare bulb too), which has been fine.

All in all, it was pain due to their systems, and took a long time to resolve, but they did fix it and I was in pocket at the end.

On balance, my opinion of them is that they aren't very efficient, but they do fix things eventually, so I trust them but am not sure if I have the patience to deal with them regularly. I have used them from time to time since, with no problems, as they do have good prices on some things.

I realise its pretty unsatisfactory but have you contacted Ebuyer first to see what happened and what they'll do to rectify the problem before venting your rage here. It may be a completely honest mistake and as long as they retrieve the misdelivered item and deliver you TV promptly without any expense to you then no harm done. Why do you think you're going to lose your money with this!

Thumbs up Big Ebuyer Fan

I have used Ebuyer for many years now and (touch wood) never had a problem. All items have been fantastic, delivered on time and superbly priced. Bought a least 3 computers worth of parts and have just placed another order for £800 of PC parts and all arrived in great condition and worked fine! If I ever need PC parts, cameras, etc they are the first site I log on to.

I have also had to use their RMA service in the past and it was faultless also with a refund given A.S.A.P. Needless to say I ordered the replacement from them. I happily recommend them to family and friends and they appreciate their prices and service also (helped a cousin buy a refurb camera and memory card and she is chuffed to bits with it and the money she saved vs. retail).

Mistakes do happen especially given their stock turnover - give them a chance to sort it out. If you can't phone them use their eNotes feature on their website

I've had a couple of major problems with them in the past and a few minor ones which all got sorted out eventually but a couple took ages. I used to only use Ebuyer as they were the cheapest place around for pretty much everything but now places like Amazon are catching up so where possible I use one of the alternatives instead.

When you sell the amount of stuff that they do though you'll unfortunatly get mistakes being made, it's how they rectify them that's the main thing and I've found them to be a bit hit and miss when it comes to sorting problems out.

I too had some problems with EBuyer but they do sort them out in the end. They are very slow and if all else fails get the credit card company involved, that certainly helped in my situation. Also make sure if you send stuff back that you use a service which has a sign on delivery facility then you can quote who and when it was signed for it. Have patience.

I've used all the major IT e-tailers of the last few years, as I have the job of ordering all our kit at work. 95% of the time I have no problem, and deliveries are prompt and correct.

You won't lose your money on this - why do you think that you will? Just give them a call and they will collect and swap.

Someone picked up the wrong box at the warehouse. Yes, it's a bit of a pain, but it happens. Ebuyer have never caused me too many problems in the past. In fact, I recall one time when I bought a new motherboard, GFX card and CPU. After fitting, the system was glitchy and prone to crashes every few mins. Not having the energy to trawl over each component, I boxed them all up and returned to ebuyer. All refunded, no questions asked.

They're not that bad really.

No one picked up the wrong box unless that person is the one that sticks the address label on it cause it has my name and address. Im so angry because two months ago a completely different company double billed my credit card. It was clear and obvious yet they disputed it and it took those two months to get it sorted. What I have read about Ebuyer does worry me that they may pull out all the stops as well. It makes me absolutley mad and believe me you dont know just how angry I feel.

Have you got in touch with them yet? I'm not exactly Ebuyers biggest fan but I can't see why they would try to hinder you in any way. No point getting worked up about it until the person on the end of the phone confirms it one way or another which I admit might be easier said than done.

Mistakes happen. If you respond calmly you'll normally get a lot further than going off on one.

I've used Ebuyer a lot. There has been the odd hitch but was always sorted out within reason. No retailer/e-tailer is perfect.

Ebuyer joined OverclockersUK as companies to never order from some time ago.
I had an ATI graphics card on pre-order, and they kept giving vague stocking times. Then one day I had an email to say they were cancelling my pre-order due to problems getting the stock. Later that day I see the same graphics card for sale, in stock at a vastly inflated price.
Sent a snotty email and got the standard response "but we don't have an order for that in the system". Well you wouldn't if you cancelled it.

Rant over

Thumbs down

Absolutely stay clear of eBuyer THEY SHOULD BE IDENTIFIED TO TRADING STANDARDS, as posted in my old thread all ive had with them is stress after ordering a 32" Hyundai Imagequest LCD TV major problems ,,I order good finance option and the process went throw correct after 3-4 days no problem with ablebuy company,,,but hers the catch I said 3-4 days I had a email on the 4th day to confirm this that the ebuyer will know be shipping your item out today...So I thought great so seat back and wait ...7 days went past no TV so I had to waste my phone bill and ring them and talk to one of there customer services ..

I asked them have you got a update on my order and they said its still in process waiting for the able2buy people to confirm this ,,total false messing me around they did no effort to helping me out and expected me to still wait ,,so as earlier said I had a confirmation email saying about ebuyer will send goods out.so its ebuyer to sort out.

So I give able2buy a ring to see if they know whats going on and straight away finds my order no messing around very helpful ,,and honestly says there problem admitting there messing you about holding you on, so he said he re-send a email to them.....

I return and ring ebuyer to explaining to them that its down to u to sort out and still telling me they cant find a email and haven’t heard from finace company. And saying it should go throw in the next to 3-4 days .So more waiting!!!!!!!!

So you guest it 5 days pass absolutely no contact as promised no TV

By this time I was sick of getting different people explain my issue to over and over again at ebuyer customer services.

I have a look online at my process on order and still in it first stage!

So I re ring and get to speak to some and ask all the same questions no idea as usual and they start to think something wrong as they looking at the dates and they see the manager and try to find out ,,They ask me to wait on the phone please for a moment and I agree and after 15 minutes later waiting on the phone shock...

I get some one saying wright found the email and confirm and then says will be processing the order, I admidiatly demanded you move the order along and get it shipped out today, they wernt having it would have to take 2-3 days even thow I placed the order with next day delivery,,,

So had to agree had to carm myself down and agreed.

But to more disappointment as promised I should have my order 2-3 days NO!! try 5 days later ITS HERE 32" Hyundai Imagequest LCD TV at my door.

Ow no and don’t think it ends there get the TV and hook it up power up and put a signal to it and guess what the largest RED dead pixel you every seen in direct in the middle of the screen.

Absolutely no way expecting it could see it all time.

So re-pack it all and then brace my self for more phone calling ££ phone bill time.

Customer services told them the problem fault and said I can return it and they be picking it up 2 days later courier arrive picks up and returns back to ebuyer ,,,so they could send me a replace ment TV ,,more days pass 5 days I get a email at 6.35pm so customer service closed and stating that the fault couldn’t be found ,,I couldn’t believe it ,,I ring them the following day and I ask them what’s going on they said the technical team couldn’t find the fault I was ,,There was no way I was lying so I said what they where going to do. They said they get in touch with the technical team so more waiting follow on to next day re-ring they said they got in touch with them and said the dead pixel isn’t a fault to them ,,so why didn’t tell me this in the first place.

Then this lead on to that they wont replace it I was like absolutely crazzzy .This story could go on in more detail the customer service are not on this planet including the manger the professional attitude what so ever I wish I recorded the phone calls.

TO END THE STORY 1 MONTH LATER I GOT A REFUND

On a positive note the ladies in customer support were very firendly and helpful and the RMA procedure so far has went relatively quickly. Unfortunately I asked for a replacement with the correct model but the Hyundai is now out of stock and the product lead time is 60 days so I will get a refund it seems. Assuming I get the refund quickly I wont be any the worse off than before the purchase but it all is very much a disappointment and the people that I told about me getting this TV are just going to be put off using internet retailers.
