HD-DVD where to buy a player?

Does anyone know I can buy a HD-DVD player for a low and not over inflated price.

If you buy it from movietyme there won't be any customs charges and you get a warranty. I'm SOOOOO effing tempted!! Right now I have the money for 1 player, the step-down converter and 1 HD-DVD (Serenity!!!). But do I spend it?!?!?!?

Go for it. I seem to be in the same boat as you - do I or don't I etc.... I will order one this week. Look at it this way, there will be no clear format winner in the near future so you will either be buying both at some stage, or one now, and HD-DVD is clearly the best right now......

Damn, customs got me today, the package got stuck in the customs and they wanted some sort of proof of the true value.

I called them and the guy said it looked very expensive and they wanted some document that could proove the actual value as the seller didn't supply any invoice or anything.

Not the least the customs guy was a homecinema nerd himself, he even admitted it so no luck there

Well that's put me off importing it myself. If I do buy it, it's movietyme all the way!

I can't tell anything, they wanted documents as proof from Paypal or creditcard.

I couldn't do much to it, this really sucks.

I will never have anything shipped by USPS ever again, this is the reason i avoid that company.

If the seller didn`t fill in the customs declaration or under declared the then that is his/her fault NOT USPS.

If they under declared on your instructions then you have been caught red handed, and should just pay up.

I imported a HD-A1 via USPS and declared a value of $450. I paid £53.43 to Fedex.

We all hate paying the duty/VAT and try diffferent methods to avoid or reduce the amount we pay but if we get caught just pay up.

Stupid thing is that the seller didn't include any invoice or receipt with the package declaring the value, that's what brought the whole thing up.

He just wrote a fictious value on the customs declaration.

Anyone who assumes they're going to trick customs is at best misguided. Unless someone is importing the machine for you then you will pay tax of around £80-90 (paid UPS this morning!). My player has ended up costing $500 plus $60 shipping plus tax. However my dread is that it will be DOA. In view of this movietyme's (ever increasing) price of £350-429 seems reasonable. I will end up paying around £380. I have waited almost 2 months for the player to come into stock though.
BTW Maplin sell three different transformers. Is there any advantage in getting one rated at more than 100W ie heat, protection etc?
