Space 1999 in HD on ITV HD
It's on now and is repeated later in the week.
Only the first episode at the moment, no ad breaks.

Got round to watching it on the HD projector and the video quality is excellent.
The 1975 model effects stand up quite well and the whole production has a real feature film quality about it.

I thought it looked very clear and chrisp. ITV seem to be doing a good job at giving the old stuff and new lease of life.

I watched this and enjoyed it - very good transfer although it is clear that HDTV productions will have to spend a lot more on props!
excellent entertainment though

Unfortunately it only ran at about 22fps on my PC but it was very sharp looking....some terrible skin conditions!

Was that 35 mm for The Prisoner and 35 mm for The Avengers?
And whilst we are on the subject I wonder how many other series of that ilk were also done in 35mm. It is clearly worth doing any mastered in 35 mm but i wonder about any series mastered in 16 mm.
(and incidentally it was the BBC who HD'd Space 1999 - http://www.bbcresources.com/postprod...space1999.html)

16mm can be sufficient enough to warrant 1080i mastering.
BBC Resources run just like any other post production company , paying customers can get work done for any channel or production company.

I watched this last night and was pleasantly surprised that they have reformatted in widescreen too, and very effectively.
