KDL40V2000U 40" LCD or KDFE50A12MATNS.U

Hi,

I have the opportunity to purchase one or other of these TVs at a stupid price. £799 and £418 respectively.

Space is not an issue as the room it will be living in is large enough to handle the 50.

It may sound a stupid question, but which would be best? There are so many pros and cons on this forum around the KDFE50 that I am in a dilema to say the least.

Picture source will be NTL cable. At the price of the TVs I can go mad and buy decent cables to improve etc.

I have seen 50" dlp TVs and compared with 40-43" plasma/lcd with the latter winning on quality.

Why am I dithering...?...

why is the LCD so cheap at only 799 quid?

i'd be careful if i was you, the KDFE50 is too cheap as well; dont tell me you've seen these on Fleabay if so steer well clear.

of the two, i'd go for a new KDFE50, LCD's are good but suffer from dreadful motion blur while watching footie and have poor blacks; especially at nightime.

i.e black is more like green/grey. now i saw the new Tosh 1080p LCD and the P.Q is the best i've ever seen, but it still has these problems.

now if the SXRD has this same P.Q on 1080p then it'll be flipping brilliant, because it was like looking through a window

The reason they are cheap is that Sony are celebrating their 60th year and are having a staff promotion - 60% discount on staff priced purchases. (in the UK that is)

I've gone for the 50 now having checked out them both in local stores. This also includes that glass stand.

The 40" LCD is a lovely TV, but at the end of the day, the size wins it for me. I've spent too long looking at other choices...and I'm impatient.

I'm still not totally sure I have done the right thing but I've looked through these forums and general consensus is that it is not a bad TV.
