KDFE50 Component Inputs

Hi all I am sure this is covered elsewhere and know that I could find the info in the manual (but I can't find it!). I have switched my Samsung 850 DVD player to component from HDMI to make way for the Sky HD box I have recently had installed.
The DVD player now gives the message 575i when I play a DVD. Naturally I want to get the best out of the Sky HD and the DVD player. If I used the HDMI connection for the DVD (as before) and used the component inputs for Sky HD would I get a higher resolution than 575 from Sky or is this the max res for this TV on component? Also what about HDCP protection would this be an issue?

why dont you buy an hdmi switching box. You can get them from the states for about $26 for a 2 port manual hdmi switcher.

Sorry for replying to my own thread but solution is here.

The DVD player was the problem. (For some reason) Region 2 Sammy HD850's come locked so that only 575i or 576p can be output over component. The multi region hack allows further resolutions to be output, but when it was applied I couldn't get 1080i. Changing the TV system type to NTSC from PAL sorted this out and now DVD player displays all resolutions over component. Don't know yet if I'll encounter HDCP problems like this but there is a hack to remove HDCP too!
