Does anyone know when Blu-Ray will ditch MPEG2 and go with VC1?

Afiak most HD-DVD titles currently shipping are encoded in VC-1.
Bluray supports VC1, MPEG4 and H264 from the outset. Some studios (notably Sony) will release Bluray movies in MPEG2 format, largely because their MPEG2 encoding solutions are mature and trustworthy. There's absolutely nothing stopping a studio from releasing a MPEG4/VC1/H264 encoded Bluray disc from launch.

The chances of Sony actually using VC1 is somewhat remote as they would have to pay royalties to Microsoft. I believe they use H264 for PSP films though, so there is a good chance they will migrate to that in the future (especially as people are complaining about the quality of the initial mpeg2 releases in the US).
For the companies releasing on both formats (Warner, Paramount), I would imagine they will use VC1 on both releases, but time will tell.
