optical input on tv drive

hi does any1 know if you can buy some sort of splitter, what i could buy what goes into the tv drives optical input, so i could run another optical to my x box 360 save keep swapping over, if you know what i mean, as my sons now broke the tv drives optical input when he keeps swapping it over this would save any more damage, i have a tech coming tomorrow coz the box his humming so hes swapping it anyway but at least i could stop this happening again help appreciated

I might be being dim but why is he swapping the cable from the TV drive? The TVdrive has a optical out. Surely you just connect your TVdrive to an amp via an optical cable, and connect the x box to an amp via a second cable and input on the amp?

Tried a three way splitter myself TV/ TV drive to amp

Would not work though on my Logitech Z-5500's only works on a single cable feed so have to keep swopping the cables out & am worried about damage to optical surfaces. Not sure if the three way splitter box robs some of the signal quality (wouldn't have thought so? Light seems to get through OK and seems same brightness ) Anyone else had this problem? Bear in mind though that with that splitter you will need to get up and turn the switch to select which input you want.

I would advise against the cheapo splitters with no switch as they give poor sound quality with the sound cutting out, and I binned the one I bought.

I've got an Xbox 360 too as well as the TV Drive and an amp with only one optical input but it also has a digital coax input, so I bought an optical to coax converter box and connect the TV drive with this.

I have the above splitter. Works fine .No drop in audio quality to my untrained ears . Flicking a switch isnt that much bother .

It's light - it either works or it doesn't, sounds like one of your cables to line up 100% - I too had this problem with more expensive (longer cables) but cheapies from ebay seemed to work much better.

How can swapping the optical connection on your amp damage your tvdrive?

Just thought....swapping the whole cable between xbox360 and tvdrive.
