some nice pics their...
i dont usually comment on borders but i find those really distracting and take something away from the shots... something a bit subtler may compliment them better

Well, to me they 'enlight' the picture... Do you really think they're too large?

The black bit is a bit large, maybe half the pixels.

Some really good photos in there, nice and colourful. It seems you are well travelled.
On some of your landscapes the horizon might have been better if it wasn't half way up the picture, that's the only citique I have got.

Thank you Jazz Monkey,

What should I do with the horizon?

The general rule is to have it on the top of the bottom third line of the picture, depending if you want to show more sky or foreground, but it is only a general rule, but most of the time looks better than half way.

I had a quick play with the Brighton one, as most of the sky isn't very interesting.

This is a picture from my FZ5, with no post-processing (but resizing/compression, to fit here).
Conditions where meant to be ideal... but the result doesn't look that good...

Can anyone tell me if something could be wrong?

(exif : 1/100, f/3.3, iso 80, 72mm. I cannot remember if I had polarised filter or not)

The house wasn't quite straight, so I rotated the pic a bit, also cropped, levels adjusted, and sharpened.

Thanks JMJ,
That's what I was asking: even if conditions are good, levels must be adjusted... I hadn't to do that with my olympus compact...

The eye shot in the first post is very striking. :smashin:

It's a long time... Here I come again.
This is a suite that should have compete in July but didn't. I was in Montreal, and I had really nice lightenings, and I spent many nights outside.
All taken with FZ5, adjusted in Picasa, denoised with picture cooler, reedited with paint.net (frame and levels)

As for the last serie : picasa, picture cooler, and paint.net.
This is 2 color jelly...

Some good additions to your album mazette
You did well to capture those lightening shots. I've tried it myself and know how frustrating it can be! I really like the clouds pic too :smashin:
