Terratec 250 PCI tv tuner

Can someone help me with this please?

I just got a terratec cynergy 250 pci tv tuner.

before that I had some cheaper video capture card (without tv tuner) with BT848/878 chipset (conexant). It was something like "Fly video..." Im sorry I cant remember the exact name.
It worked bad at the begining with the default drivers but I downloaded those tweaked wincap drivers (or how they r called? im sure experienced users know them) and it turn to be very good! even on high resolutions with compression used while recording. It ran smooth, I copied several vhs videos to my hdd with it.
But later i decided to remove that card and to add this terratec card (cause of the tv tuner) and now i must say im quite disapointed (i expected things to be better!)

Now I get dropped frames, freezes and similar problems all the time using the deafult drivers and the default software that came with it called cynergy tv center. (no serious problems using uncompressed audio/video recording but there r problems when recording on higher resolutions with compression included like droped frames, freezez, sound problems etc.)

So my question is:
are there tweaked drivers for this card as there are for my previous broketree bt 848/878 based card?
Terratec 250 pci card is with Philips chipset as far as i understand.

Meanwhile I tried several programs to see if there will be any difference.
The WinDVR 3 bundled program with the card gave me some nice results but there's no sound while previewing?? (maybe this is a trial version limitation?? I really dunno. Also some presets like dvd etc.. are locked, only vcd and svcd is available. I would get the full no-trial version but i must be sure what results would I get in advance)
i also downloaded ChrisTV Pro but it confused me totally with so much options, menus and stuff.

Do u think that getting a standard standalone DVD recorder would be a right solution instead of this torture for me??? Im really becoming more and more tired from all these things so...

Im gratefully waiting for ur opinions.

Thank you very much!

I would try asking a computer forum or as you say - give up and just buy a dvd recorder.
Have you tried e mailing Terratec ?
