needs to be said
Just a thought, but there have been so many thred's regarding the issues with the AX1 and its problematic playback. However as many will know Toshiba have released Two new firmware updates in the last week and it has seriously improved the playback. Infact I’ve heard very little about the player since the first firmware release and no new problem thred's, show's most people are happy.
That means there is now a HD DVD format available with a good reliable DVD Player
at a cost that is not earth shattering and has a steady stream of movies (well better that sd DVD at launch) and I'd like to say well done to Toshiba for sorting it out so fast.
Now I’m not a HD DVD fanboy and I could, and probably will, get a blu ray but heck, It's available, it affordable, it's now reliable and it's flippen Good.

I had some lockups and skips with my original 1.0 firmware on my very early unit (Arrived on the Friday of release week!) but have not had a single glitch or problem with 1.2 or 1.3 and I get BTB into DVI.

i thought i was pretty much up to date on terminology but what the heck is BTB (is it back to black?) ive googled etc but still none the wiser! the blacks on the A1 seem pretty rock solid is it something for dvi only? im running it hdmi>ae700 projector no probs here either using either 1.0 or 1.2 not tried the 1.3 ( afaik the 1.3 may only be of use for the rca clone) the only thing i have noticed is an occasional flash of multicoloured static only for a split second i would think its a hdmi thing or projector thing as the player doesnt stop
thanks

I would like to know when Batman Begins will be out as looking at the promo at the start of the warner discs and it looks really good.

True, but we have a lot more disc's now than DVD had at the same stage of it's release.
