AVR300 digital audio problem

About 5 days ago my AVR300 started acting up with digital sources. It would play audio fine then all of a sudden there would be no audio. This happens to both the Digital Coax (Digital Cable) and Toslink (Xbox 360) inputs. The only way to get audio back is to switch to the CD input (which is analog RCA Stereo Digital mode) and back to the original source a few times. The switch always causes a clicking sound (I guess because its Stereo Direct it turns off the Digital components). Also when switching back to the digital source, somethings (when there is no sound) the display would say Dolby Digital 2.0, then Dolby PL IIx and then Dolby Digital 0.0. To me this says there is something wrong with the digital circuitry.

My receiver is still under warranty (1 year out of 2) so my dealer wants to send it to ARCAM for a re-conditioning. Any ideas folks?

My AVR300 would sometimes unsync with my TV toslink input when surfing between analog and digital stations. The thing I used do that always worked to resync it was pressing and holding the selected source button for a few seconds.

But...if you're not actually changing anything and the unit is just unsyncing itself for no apparent reason, I'd first try changing the cable (though I admit that it's not a likely culprit if the problem is happening on more than one input) and then send it back for repair if the behavior continues.

HTH.

FWIW I've had a similar scenario happen a couple of times where I have switched the source via remote (on the AVR300) from DVD (digital) back to CD (analogue) and no sound results (even though the CD was playing). By pressing on the AVR300 the DVD button then back to the CD button gave me the music. I've been trying to relicate the problem and the exact solution but it happens too infrequently to pinpoint what is occuring. A bit of a mystery.

I know this as well, and it happens quite randomly. However, now the sound goes away from any digital source randomly and even switching it around does not make it come back.

I have dropped off my receiver at the dealer's earlier this week to be sent to Arcam to be serviced. ETA 2wks. The dealer was nice enough to loan me an old Marantz for the time being, but the speaker connectors on that aren't big enough to handle the WBT spades on my Kimber cables...so much for that

Buy yourself a roll of bell wire from B&Q and remind yourself why you bought the Kimbers It will make a great A/B comparison when you get the 300 back

I got my ARCAM back after 2 weeks. They replaced the main digital board. All appears to be well.
