High Def upscaler for all Equipment

Hi All

I have been briefly chatting to the people that installed my Home Cinema System and they tell me that in August/September they will be getting in something called 'the Magic Box'

Apparently you plug all your SD equipment in DVD, Sky, Freeview and it upscales it to HD.

Sounds awesome and just what I need really.

Want HD but don't want to pay Sky even more money every month and don't want to import the Toshiba HDA1 as am worried what the costs would end up being if something went wrong - If its out in the state's why's it not over here!!

Anyone know anything about this Magic Box i.e. who makes it, how it works, website links for research etc etc.

Thanks
Jas

There's no magic involved. It is going to be a "normal" video processor. And don't let them fool you: Surely a good video processor will make SD look much better (compared to without the VP), but you will not achieve real HD quality this way.

I'm not aware of any product with the name "Magic Box". I guess the real product has a different name and they just call it that way. Ask them how the real product is named and which company will be producing it. Most probably we have heard about it already and can give you more information about it.

Thanks for that - think they said it was made by a company called Lin?

Interesting.

Linn make a CD player called Majik.
Maybe they are thinking of entering the world of VP's as well

Well, that would be news, if Linn made a video processor. Interesting, though.

I heard somewhere that Linn always recommended an off-board VP for their unidisks as opposed to the on board video processing route that is offered in so many DVD players these days.
