I was reading in one of the home cinema magazine's recently and a gentlman in an artical was trying to build an av system using 6sub?
He used 5 identical large floorstanding speakers each wired at speaker level with a Sub capable of 20hz.
and he also had a big 15inch sub for the dedicated lfe signal.

this way when he set his speakers to large on his amp he was getting the full force of the 5.0 bass and his big sub just had to deal with the lfe.

he stated that the shear force was amazing but also the extra clarity and placement was fantastic.

interesting idea, if a little messy.

Anyone done or tried this?

No but I have alwayse wanted to try multiple subs. There is something amazing and addictive about feeling base in your chest, I'm sure with that system you could feel it from head to toe. The problem would be that every window and loose object would shake as well. Maybe if you set it up in a concrete bunker ?

I recently upgraded my centre speaker to one with a built-in sub and amp (Definitive Technology). Had a Bose before (standard non powered) and the difference it has made is amazing, not sure if you need them in the surrounds but I am over the moon with the improvement in dialogue, etc.
