Does the HD-A1 come with a HDMI lead at all, if not, what's considered the better one to go for?

It comes with one. Its a silver connector... tbh i cant see the difference between the other one i have.

I was having a lot of HDMI ERRORS 1/0 ,i upgraded my HDMI cable to an Ixos XHT458-100 and it seems to of sorted my problems.Picture qualitys the same but not so many HDMI ERRORS now.:)
