This has been on my roof for min 10 years. Prob for FM radio? Looks like there's an extra appendage that's been hooked over it and then joined in via junction box. Any illumination welcome!
Cheers,
Gareth

Looks like an aerial sort picking up weak signals, could be from an other region. The appendage could be a booster box is it wired to or look as though it had been connected to the mains or a battery fitted?

The round grey appendage laying on the slates is a masthead amplifier it will get power from a unit inside the house, this will usually be sited where the cable enters the house or in the living room.
BTW that aerial needs taking down as it is broken (1st picture) and badly installed (other pictures). If it's not in use you could leave it but it will fall down eventually.

Okay - it's for TV then? It's not in use but the single coax cable runs down the outside wall into my conservatory. There's no obvious power feed going back up to the masthead amplifier.
The extra bit that has been hooked over the main aerial (pic 3), is that something else entirely?
Can't see where it's broken - please can you elaborate?
Thanks,
Gareth

The bit that's hooked over should actually be attached to the aerial, to the long square tube that runs the whole length, it has broken off. It's where you connect the aerial to the downlead.
