Cool Kunfu Movies : What do you recommed?

Hi all

i'm interested in slick smart looking kunfu movies.
What I classify as slick\ smart is something like :
Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon.

I recently watched : Iron Monkey
That was really was amazing!

Can any of you recommend any movies like that?
(only on a decent dvd). And what sites would you recommend
to buy uncut versions?

cheers,
Shaz

Check out Drive - from the Hong Kong Legends label (great DVD publishing house, many classic martial arts flick available through them, with generally very well put-together DVDs and extras). Drive looks like its been heavily influenced by the Matrix, but in fact it pre-dates it by 3 years. Quite how this film never got a full release is a bit of a mystery, as it's damn good. The region 2 version spits on the Region 1, incidentally, with about 10 minutes of extra footage.

Fist of Legend with Jet Li. Incredible. Makes The Matrix look like a couple of drunks trying to ballet dance.

I enjoyed the Once Upon A Time In China series of films which stared Jet Lei as well as the older Jackie Chan ones like Drunken Master & The Snake In The Eagles Shadow.

The Hong Kong Legend versions are mostly uncut and are very good quality and are available almost everywhere but you could try www.play.com or if you have a multi region player you could try www.pokerindustries.com for some region 3's.

If you would like to find out which is the best version available try http://www.dvdcompare.org.uk/compari...omparisons.php

Recently watched Jet li's Twin Warriors on Sky and if you love Iron Monkey you'll love this film. Also starring Michelle Yeoh, the fight scenes are outrageous. Ever seen a human pogo stick?
Watch it and get ready to be amazed while ****ing yourself laughing.

Hi all

Thanks a lot for your replies, I'll write out a "to watch" list
and check them all out. I'm a bit annoyed that I missed
"Fist Of Legend" a couple of days ago.
It was on Sky Movies.

I blame my new broadband connection and xbox for distracting
me from Sky Tv! And the fact that I gotta go to work.

Cya,
Shaz

My recommendations would be:
-once upon a time in china 1 and 2
-fist of legend
-zu,warriors from the magic mountain
-evil cult
-stormriders
-black mask
-legend of zu(R3)

I'm french,so i don't know if there available in uk but i'm sure someone here could help you with that.

Can you confirm the audio and aspect ratio (and if animporhic) for :-

Black Mask
Twin Warriors
Fist of Legend (is this better than Bruce Lee's version)

Do the above film have lots of "wire-fu" like CTHD and Romeo Must Die?

Is CannonBall Run worth a purchase?

Many thanks!

Drunken master 2 is a classic, also the the one armed swords man, But the daddy of all these films is Shoalin Soccer, its a daft story about a bunch of brothers who try to incorporate kung fu into football, it has matrix style special effects, and is very amusing
