Best Sat Nav for the Mrs?

OK the Mrs came home after being lost for an hour the other day after her normal 30 mile journey was disrupted due to a road closure! She got well and truly lost, typical female sense of direction, had to phone me to ask which way!

I want to buy her a suitable Sat Nav, one that will detail traffic problems, highlight speed cameras, cos she can be a bit nifty in order to get home in time to cook my dinner!

I have read lots of poor reports about Tom Tom products so would it be best to avoid them?

I have been looking at the TT510 or the Garmin 310.

Can anyone please advise a suitable brand and product?

Do they make one which hooks up to the steering wheel? And the pedals?

What are the poor reports you've heard about the TomTom products? I've been using their stuff for several years now and think it's superb. I have an original TT Go that my wife can use no problem at all and I recently lent it to my (female) neighbour who managed to use it after only 5 minutes tuition.

I can't comment on the physical reliability of the latest models (my unit has never had a single issue and is now almost 2 years old) but the software and user interface is second to none, in my opinion.

I had read some reports on here about the cradle holding the latest TT510 models failing.

However took the plunge and bought one yesterday and we have tried it out and it is very good indeed. In fact the cradle seems fine, very sturdy in fact!

I agree the menu system is very user friendly! I just need to ascertain which bluetooth phones are compatable with the TT510. I have read the TT website but the mrs wants a flip phone that will work with the 510. Looked at the motorola V3 but wondered whether anyone can offer some further advice?

Feel for you as know just what you mean my misses hasn't a clue about roads, maps etc. Bought her a TT 1 about 2 months ago as sometimes she goes to customers for me, what a difference, she can use it no problem and her words are always "took me right to the door" just quite what else suppose to do I don't know lol. Imho TT 1 easy use and does job without fail, cheers.
