Another delay in Blu-ray ?

Just spotted this over in AVS. Appears Amazon is indicating a delay on BD titles.

I spoke to the very nice people at Discount TV this morning - I bought my HD72 from them - and we got talking about HDDVD and Blu Ray. I remarked that I had heard that Blu Ray was having some problems and that titles had been pushed back. The guy I was talking to said he had some inside info on the delay... Thousands of Blu Ray units were ready for release and then they discovered a big problem - the Blu Ray units couldn't play CDs!!!! At no time in the QA process had they checked this out! So it was back to the drawing board!!! Don't know whether it is true or not but if it is seems like Sony's making a right bodge of it all.

Huh? We've known that for months now. The Pioneer and Sony players won't play CDs, the Samsung will.

So if the players cant play CDs, why have the BR-DVDs been put back?

Makes no sense to be honest. Especially as Grubert has said the playback specifications have been known for months.

Not heard of that problem and I think only the Samsung claims CD playback. There's loads of speculation about yield issues on the BD SL media. To avoid using the outer area of the disc due to read difficulties the capacity has been limited to 20gb on the initial titles. This may have caused a production delay hence pushing back title release dates.

Any thoughts ?
