Those coming from SDI prepared to be disappointed!!

I have been using an SDI Sky+ box for the last couple of years and have never really had any quarms with the picture on any of the channels.

Got the HD box plugged in and what a disappointment!!

The SD channels do not even compare with the sdi connection and the HD stuff is passable at best.

Also whatever is going on with that pixel noise?!! It is the same effect I get if I turn the sharpness setting up to around 50 on my processor, usually it is between 2 and 7, just full of noise.

Now got to decide if I am going to keep it or slide the SDI modded box back in and wait until there is more HD stuff available.

Take pity on a poor soul who's install was cancelled today with no notice and send it to a good new home (i.e. mine), you know it makes sense...

Gizlaroc, are you using component out? I'd guess you are?

Round at Pete's earlier, he found that RGBSCART looked much better than component 576i (this is into a vp30+ABT102) - something inside the box is doing something weird with the component out.

The scaler kept losing the cadence lock (this in spite of how amazing it normally is at challenging stuff) and it also look softer and generally worse than SCART.

Forced 1080i over component looked slightly better (but not as good as SCART still). That just cannot be right.
