IR Extender on a NAD AVR in the loft?

I currently have a NAD T752 under my TV but I am running out of room and I'd like to move it into the loft. Now, I can remove the 5.1 faceplate off the wall of my lounge and replace it with a faceplate fronted with 6 x digital coax interfaces to take the digital audio from the AV sources to the NAD T752 in the loft. I can also wire the NAD up to the five main speakers easily because these are mounted in the ceiling (it's a bungalow!), and I can hook up the low level to the sub because this is currently connected via an old TV RF feed, through the loft and down to the corner of the lounge. I can also pass the composite video out from the NAD back down to the lounge through one of the 6 x digital coaxes that I'll install where the current 5.1 audio faceplate is currently.

I can also hook up an IR extender from the NAD in the loft to the lounge using a USB over IP extender.

My questions:

Can I use an IR extender with a NAD AV Receiver?

Can anybody think of any reason why what I propose won't work?
