:lease: To the more knowledgable of you the answer might obvious. Nevertheless, perhaps it's worth a try!

Q: Can you feed Freesat signals into Freeview boxes? I live in a marginal Freeview area & was wondering if a Freesat dish would provide a better signal. However, having got a Pace Twin & another Freeview box which is built in to another setup,I don't want to dump it all & start again! I just don't know enough about which sort of signal comes down from the aerial & dish.

Any ideas? -(But keep it fairly non-tech' please.)
Thanks in advance PAK

The terrestrial Freeview service uses different frequencies and a different modulation system to $ky and Freesat so the two are totally incompatible.
Freeview is on our UHF bands IV and V , about 480-840 MHz and uses COFDM modulation.
Satellite uses Ku-band, 10.7-12.75 GHz with QPSK modulation.

Have you had an aerial re-work? Marginal reception can often be improved upon with the right aerial setup; high gain, highly directional, of the correct group for the transmitter, and supplemented (if necessary and as a last resort) with a masthead amplifier. Consult a reputable local installer.

Sticking your postcode into wolfbane will give some info about what aerial type would help most (if any can).

In addition to what Nigel has suggested I have heard that a new/better quality downlead can make as much or more difference than an amplifier, depending on what you already have of course.
This is all just possibilities of course; you may still not get a Freeview signal until analogue switch off :(

:smashin: Thanks a lot to one & all-I rather suspected it would be something like that! Thought it was wortha try though. Looks like I've got to get a prof. aerial man in to have a look round with his meters & things.
Thanks again.
