Don't know if this is old news but hey?

While taking a mental break from the missus' clothes shopping, I had a walk around the plasma screens. Under the Philips screen (last row before the back wall) was a Philips box with a BluRay sticker. It looked like a little mini PC with a the drive in it. The feed was the stock standard HD feed being displayed. Didn't have enough time to have a poke around the back and see how it was connected. The picture was nice and crisp but could have been plugged to a better screen (not a fan of Philips plasmas - just my opinion).

Most of the HD sources in stores are actually standard PCs or sky-hd boxes playing off the hard disk. I did see some kinda gadget in JL southampton that was playing HD of a standard DVD-R.

Blu-Ray pc storage devices have been available in Japan for a while. I don't think these are able to play the BD movies that are due to be released shortly.

Thanks for this, I will check this out in the coming week. Haven't had a chance to see any BR demos so far.

M8 this will not be a demo of BD as in the forthcoming movies and players. This will be no different to the Japanese hard disk recorders used to demo Panasonic displays at JLP etc. BD is this case is just a storage medium.
