Wow, pretty ambitious. My 3.2Ghz P4 struggles at times...they have a lot of optimizing to do then ;)

MS have also released their Upgrade Advisor Beta:

The Windows Vista Upgrade Advisor is a small beta application that you can run on your current Windows XP-based computer to find out if it's ready for an upgrade to Windows Vista.

@danluton: Hardly ambitious, I would have expected more. I see Microsoft are covering their backsides by releasing Vista on CDs aswell as DVDs.

its the bare minimum spec to load windows, they dont say its useable with those specs :P

1GB of memory and a 3GHz cpu will be fine untill you start opening a shed loadsd of apps, and then its all down to how well it manages memory :)

Damn , I wanted to see whether my comp is ok and when I went to download the upgrade advisor, I got this:

The Windows Vista Upgrade Advisor beta is currently unavailable, please check back soon. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Yeah, I did get hold it of, but now it won't download the driver database to check your system!

It doesn't really tell you much. the biggest shock for me was it told me I needed 15GB of free space on my C: (system) drive! And you thought that XP took a lot of space!

About the 15GB free hard drive, this is only recommend because of the amount of temp. files that it uses when installing.

I've just installed Build 5381.1 a couple of hours ago. VERY quick install. After installing I checked how much hard drive space it has used, it was just over 6GBs.
