They've been on a steady downhill slide ever since 'Lowlife' IMHO and that was 17 years ago!

True faith is not the best they've done, nor is blue Monday, Movement (1981 &1st) is the best album they have done, and 'chosen time' is my fav track. But they have never dated, and are a great band, and they are THE manc band, that has done more for our city then any other. Oasis are a joke- as all burnage boy's are (sorry burnage) by the way.

As i've said before, joy division was above and beyond neworder, Ian Curtis would of become the biggest thing in pop history, And when he took his life in 80, a genius died. joy division/New order are the manc band for mancs, Stone roses were good, the Mondays were a bigger influence on the dance scene in Manchester. The charlatans are from Cheshire, good band, but just jumped on the manc band wagon, like James and the Sh*te carpets (from Oldham).
Just seen 24 hour party people today, and it's a great film, the roses don't get a mention, It all revolves around wilson, neworder, and the Monday's. Seeing the Hac Rockin to voodoo ray just like it use to be, sent shivers down me and my my wife's spine. It was the place that started it all. while most(but not all) of the country .were out in their slacks listening to Luther vandross, we were (mancs) in the Hac. Everybody Got on to it in time, but it took time, I've been to sad copy's like cream and the rest, Manumission in ibiza, And nothing NOTHING, comes close to that club.
But lets not forget the smiths, the buzzcocks, the stranglers. The fall.
And last but most important of all... Manchester. Birth place of the computer, the bouncing bomb, the railway, Alan Turing ( Code breaker)
And loads more...
New Order also released material as Beat Club too I believe.
