Sanyo LCD RPTV dust/panel alignment - fix/fixer required!
Hi all,
I've been lurking about for a while soaking up the excellent tips and advice, and now I'd like to ask a question of my own.
My Sanyo PLC XR70E 70" XGA LCD RPTV (great big box with Sanyo PLC 8800A projector in) that I picked up used from fleabay exhibits a couple of problems.
The first problem appears as small blobs on the screen (thumb print size or less) in red, blue or green - the blue and green showing against darker backgrounds, the red only against light backgrounds. I have cleaned bulb, lens, mirror and screen to no avail. The Sanyo service website advises that this is dust on the LCD panels and requires expert service - anyone confirm / refute this? Could it be burn damage?
The 2nd issue is more of an eyesore - recently the unit has started displaying a red ghost image offset to the left from the rest of the picture. From the information I've gathered around the web this is either LCD panel alignment or the panels have suffered heat damage and are dying/dead. Anyone confirm / refute this?
Basically I'd like to know: is this fixable (I'm told that if the problem is LCD burn then the repair would cost as much as a new unit, though I'm not sure if that's the projector or the TV)? By myself (given service menu code or service manual)? Or could a member recommend a south-east (pref East Sussex) based repairer who isn't going to want an arm and a leg just to look at it? I only have one arm and leg left after buying it...
Sorry for the poor quality pics, I could possibly get better ones if anyone thought it would help a positive diagnosis.
Many thanks in advance,
Paul
