Along with the press coverage of the PS3 was an interview with the gentleman responsible for Sony in the UK, Ireland and Scandinavia on Radio 4 this morning. When asked about the price point the PS3 was being pitched at he said a major benefit of buying one was it would be the cheapest standalone blue ray player available to the public. I wonder if that strategy might allow HD DVD to gain an early lead in the competition betwen them?
