DRH High Power -Anyone tested them?

I am looking to the DRH screens and was interested in their high power material. I have a Panasonic PT9000 with 1100 lumens and would have liked to be able to watch movies/tv in daylight.

Problem is that screen is rated at a gain of 3.2 so I am a bit worried that watching movies at nigth would become uncomfortable (too bright) maybe setting the lamp on the low brightness would suffice, I don't know. Has anyone tested that?

Thanks

If you give DRH a ring they will send you samples (about A4 sized) of their screen materials. Trying in your own environment is the best way to make a decision.

I'd be interested to hear about the HP screen material too.

A grey screen also works well with ambient light, and Optoma make a Greywolf 1.8gain screen which might be a better bet. The screen is retro reflective (sends the light back to the source) and works best if the viewers are at roughly the same height as the pj.

If you find it's too bright even on low lamp mode when viewing in the dark, you could always put a neutral density filter (ND2) to dim the image down, and remove it when viewing with daylight.

I got a sample from DRH. Their material is also retro reflective. Unfortunately my projector is above my head so I only get 1/3rd of the gain probably from my viewing position. A reflective material would be more appropriate to my setting I guess so I am on the lookout for one. Suggestions welcome!
