View Full Version : Just bought a printer - need paper !!
This might be in wrong section, but here goes.
I have just bought my 1st printer in about 15 years, but have no paper!!
Where is the best place to buy it on the high street and what sort of money should I be paying? Don't want fancy photo quality stuff, just standard white paper for an inkjet (80 or 90gsm).

Hmm... stationary box? You can't go much wrong... it's paper.

What about a paper shop?
In fact, I used to run a paper shop but financial difficulties set in and I eventually had to fold it :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

make sure you buy a Russ Andrews USB cable (http://www.russandrews.com/lookup/1/region/UK/currency/GBP/customer_id/PAA0366053006545UZLBQKKUYDPPSTHS/product-NEW-Kimber-USB-cable-2800.htm), it will improve your printing quality no end.
I suppose I deserved smart replies. What a silly post!!
But I'm getting me one of those cables.

Back to paper....Work maybe...? Sorry, I mean PC World...
Recycled paper gives much better printouts than standard paper and also saves our enviroment and hopefully our world. It's a little more expensive, but worth every penny.
(if you don't believe me ask Russ Andrews!)

Good god - are people really that gullible? Do you think it will make the letters clearer or something? Please learn about how USB works. This will make absolutely no difference to anything, other than your bank balance.
I'll sell you a USB cable that's been blessed by a priest if you want. It's about as scientific.
Some people will buy anything.

We sell 80gsm for £3.95 a ream (500 sheets)
There's lots of grades of paper, the better ones will have some sort of diagram on the packaging showing what types of printers they are suitable for. This does make a difference as better paper soaks up the ink, doesn't let it spread out or allow it to soak through. some of the really cheap paper also curls when the pack has been opened and can jam the printer.
Buy recycled paper if it makes you feel good, other than that it's no better and sometimes worse than virgin paper. Our company used to be paid for our waste paper now we pay to have it taken away, so why does recycle paper cost more?

Staples sell paper in all shades, sizes and colours.
cheap paper clogs you inkjet head with a sort of furry dusty stuff. Remember nice 100gm stuff for CV's though....

Actually the cheap stuff from Asda/Tesco etc.. is fine, never caused me any problems.
