My local B&Q warehouse does all sorts of blinds and machine cuts to size. They have a decent range but perhaps not as extensive as a dedicated retailer.

If it's roller blinds you're talking about then "custom made" is a completly made up term... They are cuttable to size... You can do this yourself in about 2 minutes with a hacksaw and a pair of scissors.

Venitian (slat) blinds, i have seen the ones in B&Q this afternoon but there drops seem to stop at 180cm and we need 200cm (big windows) I have been on a load of websites and aske for samples and will contact a company " Hillarys" who offer a custom quoting and fitting service (but i recon they will be steep) we are looking at over £500 in blinds for the living room alone so i really want decent ones that go up when they are supposed to and open and close properly (we have an ikea blind at the moment and its naff wont go up or down just sits there half way!)

thats my estimate (i'm the AV nut)
Very interested to hear from any forum member who sells/installs blinds. Also any Glasiers as we want some internal glazing frosted/etched

You can buy stick on sheats for frosting, results are quite good and the sheets only cost a few quid. My girlfriends dad had to do it after the company they ordered doors from got confused and delivered them a toilet door with clear glass in...

Time to get out the Yellow pages.

When I wanted a made-to-measure blind I phoned round all the local places and found that those without big adverts gave the best prices.
In fact the closest one to me was the best priced. He called a few days later with samples and measured up properly (I'd only given him a rough size when I phoned for the quote).

Smaller outlets may give you discount too for buying several at once.

I have used 'Hilarys' on a much humbler scale and found their service to be excellent.
