Cheaper Warner DVDs (for China)

Saw this (http://www.bit-tech.net/news/2006/04/24/warner_dvd_prices_china_piracy/) on my travels around the net (at bit-tech.net).

"Warner said that it expects to price some of its new titles at $1.50 in China, a price cut down from around $4. This puts the films at the same price, roughly, as pirated copies, which generally go for $1-2."

I wonder if CDWOW! can get their hands on these ;)

it all comes down to equations/wages etc, the equivalent of $1.50 in China would buy you more than $1.50s worth of pounds would in the UK, but $1.50 is worth more in China than UK in comparison.

For example, the average wage of an Accountant in China is £4,677 (source bbc news), Uk is £30,956 (source www.salaryexpert.com)....

All relative.

I don't care what their reasoning for the pricing. If they can produce for such a nominal fee in China they should be able to do it relatively in all countries. Most people in this country don't earn anywhere near the average wage so why shouldn't they get their DVDs cheaper?

I hope there is a company in China that sells these DVDs to the rest of the world on line!
