Was this a BlueRay player?

I was in Debenhams today in Manchester and they had a HD feed to 2 32" LCDs (one was a Phillips 9880 i think)
A closer inspection under the telly revealed a small, cube shaped black box made by Phillips with a very small BlueRay label. It definately looked like a DVD player of some sort but I was under the impression that no BR players were available yet.
I do hope it was BR because the PQ was stunningly good.

Blu Ray players/recorders have been available (in Japan anyway) for a couple of years.
I think many stores use pre recorded HD material to show off new displays.

These recorders should not be confused with the upcoming 1080p players.

My Local Sony Shop was installing what looked like Blu Ray player on Sat. It was huge and looked like the pictures I have seen. Not sure if it was a dummy though .

Didnt have time to go in and look just saw that they were setting it up in the window. May go back and look today at lunch if I have the time.
