VGA to Component - Please Help

I have just hooked up my HTPC to my plasma via a VGA to Component Cable. It's being switched through my Denon 3802 amp But it's screwed

It's fine on VGA to VGA but when I switch to component, the screen either has a really pink hue, distorts all over the place or disappears altogether.

I'm using the onboard NVidia chip on an ASUS A8N-VM CSM mobo and there are a load of settings within the app but, to be honest, I'm stabbing in the dark and my efforts usually result in the display disappearing altogether and requiring me to reboot.

I'm beginning to despair with this, my first build. Please help.

Thanks

Dan

only cos I want to switch it through my amp which won't accept vga, So my TV Drive and PC then plug into my amp and then out to the TV, Means less wires.
